Reinventing Farming in Kuwait

Aquaponics system explained

Bloom Aquaponics operates using a closed-loop aquaponics system where fish and plants grow together in a natural, self-sustaining cycle.

The process begins in the fish tanks, where tilapia and seabass are raised in carefully controlled conditions. As the fish grow, they produce nutrient-rich waste that would normally be harmful if left untreated. This water is directed to a biofiltration unit, where beneficial bacteria convert the waste into nitrates—an essential nutrient for plant growth.

The nutrient-rich water is then circulated to the fodder growing units, where plants absorb the nutrients they need to grow quickly and healthily. As the plants feed, they naturally clean and filter the water. The purified water is then returned to the fish tanks, completing the cycle.

This system allows Bloom Aquaponics to produce fish and fodder simultaneously while using up to 90% less water than traditional farming. The result is a highly efficient, sustainable, and reliable food production system that operates year-round with minimal waste.
